Samuel L. Jackson Honored at Dubai International Film Festival 2016

A Hollywood legend, actor Samuel L. Jackson opened the first night of the annual Dubai International Film Festival on Wednesday, December 7th 2016.

Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum presented the award to Jackson, who was accompanied by his talented wife actress LaTanya Richardson. "It's a great honor to be given the Dubai International Film Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award," he told the crowd. "It's wonderful to be included into the Emirates' film community, and I look forward to meeting all of its amazing filmmakers and making many new friends."
 


 
Bollywood actress Rekha and French-Lebanese composer Gabriel Yared were also given Lifetime Achievement awards. Actor and business mogul Tyrese Gibson was also on hand to support the film 'The Worthy' directed by Ali Mostafa. The Worthy is a follow up to Mostafa's 2014 film 'From A to B'.

Chaired by Abdul Hamid Juma, the festival is back for its 13th year. The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) will take place from December 7 – 14, 2016 at Madinat Jumeirah. The festival will see thousands of cinema-goers, actors, directors, producers, writers and industry experts descend on Dubai to enjoy the world’s best films in one of the world’s premiere locations.
