The Olympic Winter Games are underway in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The opening ceremony that marked the beginning of a 17-day journey was held at the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium in Pyeongchang.
Full of complex choreographies and technologically-advanced performances showcasing Korean tradition and culture, the ceremony also featured a group of South Korean singers including Jeon In-know singing a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" and a sequence in which the stadium lit up with lasers as the Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town" blasted from the speakers.
Nearly 3,000 athletes from 92 countries gathered to compete in 102 events across 15 sport disciplines. The sports include bobsleigh, curling, figure skating, luge, snowboard and ski jumping.
