Bronx World Film, Cycle. Summer 2024 Provides Stellar Platform for Directors to Showcase Films
The last two weeks of this month Bronx World Film, Inc., pioneer arthouse film presenter now in its thirteenth year, brings its flagship Film Cycle to parks, public and private spaces in its home borough with a curated programme of contemporary film in wide-ranging genres. The programme showcases a strong presence of women and youth with a blend of local and international works for communities with few movie or arts venues and supportive institutions.
Bronx World Film Cycle, Summer ’24 marks year two of a partnership that began in the summer of 2023, when Bronx Council on the Arts hosted an evening of the Summer Cycle for its first-ever film programme. Now the programme is set showcase 48 works from 21 countries and 30 directors, with dance, animation, digital art, fantasy, sci-fi, documentary and experimental films from micrométrage (30 seconds to 2 minutes) to feature-length, including world, US and New York City premieres on the marquée.
This year Bronx World Film Cycle, Summer ’24 proudly presents the New York premiere of Take Your Space (dir. Karolina Álvarez), a documentary on graffiti and urban art in Mexico, along with futurist The Bytes Dreams are Made Of (dir. Alessandro Amaducci) and Amenda Tate’s Sapient 2.021, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the word “robot.”

Bronx World Film Cycle, Summer ’24 is the most ambitious Summer Cycle since 2017 when the organization launched it as a spinoff of the Winter Cycle. The Cycle covers most of the borough’s 12 Community Boards. Special thanks to the Department of Parks and Recreation for their support.
