A New Campaign Captures the Craft, Detail, and Artistry behind Every Drop of PATRÓN Tequila

PATRÓN Tequila has teamed up with Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro for a new short film called The Perfect Pour. The campaign centers on the idea that even the smallest actions, like pouring a drink, can tell a bigger story about dedication and detail.

Announced on March 18, 2026, from Hamilton, Bermuda, the film is part of a global push by PATRÓN to celebrate the craft, patience, and hands-on care that define their tequila. The concept is simple: one pour, perfectly executed, but backed by the kind of effort usually reserved for full-scale film productions.

At first glance, The Perfect Pour looks like a typical pour shot in a beverage ad. Then it unfolds into something else. Behind that single pour is a full film crew, precise lighting, camera choreography, and del Toro’s signature touch for mood and precision. It’s a detailed, quiet show of effort meant to reflect the way PATRÓN approaches its craft in Jalisco, Mexico.

Del Toro explained his connection to the project in straightforward terms. “Perfection isn’t rushed, as  it’s built frame by frame, pour by pour,” he said. He spoke about valuing craft and intention, describing the film as a tribute to doing things right rather than fast. His approach fits naturally with PATRÓN’s philosophy of doing things by hand and not cutting corners.

That shared mindset shaped every part of the production. Shot at Hacienda PATRÓN in Jalisco, the film’s visuals feature bright, symbolic touches inspired by Mexican heritage. Skeleton figures, designed and performed through motion capture, represent the many artisans and workers behind both the film and PATRÓN’s production. This wasn’t just a creative choice, but it was a part of del Toro’s effort to highlight the human element in craftsmanship.

The production team included several well-known collaborators such as Guillermo Navarro, Karla Castañeda, Guy Davis, Dennis Berardi, Nathan Robitaille, and Terry Notary. All are respected in Mexican cinema and international film circles. Together, they built a small but immersive world around a single pour, combining handcrafted artistry and technical control.

Roberto Ramirez-Laverde, Global Senior Vice President for PATRÓN Tequila, explained how the collaboration came together. He said the brand has always believed in the importance of process and patience. “From day one, we’ve never compromised on how we craft our tequila,” he said. “Guillermo shares that same dedication to greatness.” To Ramirez-Laverde, hiring a filmmaker of del Toro’s level to capture one pour might look excessive, but for PATRÓN, it was a natural match in spirit.

Laila Mignoni, VP of Global Communications for PATRÓN, said the creative process was built around the goal of honoring both the brand’s story and del Toro’s style. According to her, the team wanted to show the “uncompromising spirit” that defines both PATRÓN and the filmmaker’s body of work. The result is a short piece that feels handcrafted but still has the technical mastery and emotion of a del Toro film.

Audiences in the U.S. got their first look at The Perfect Pour during the Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics game on ESPN. The campaign is also rolling out across other platforms including TV, digital video, and social media with additional footage that shows the behind-the-scenes process and artistry involved. The global launch will continue later this year across additional markets, building a broader spotlight around the film and the tequila that inspired it.

PATRÓN’s broader message with The Perfect Pour circles back to its values: consistency, patience, and craft. Every bottle is made from only three ingredients—100% Weber Blue Agave, water, and yeast—then shaped by over sixty hands before reaching the final product. The process has stayed close to its roots in the Highlands of Jalisco, where PATRÓN still produces its tequila in small batches, maintaining an old-fashioned approach in a modern marketplace.

In The Perfect Pour, Guillermo del Toro and PATRÓN come together to remind people that small details matter. Whether it’s the movement of a camera or the slow pour of a spirit, care at every step leads to something lasting.

For anyone curious about what that looks like—or tastes like—PATRÓN Tequila might be the right place to start.
