New York City Ballet Art Series Through The Eyes of Artist Jihan Zencirli
New York City Ballet will be represented from late January through February through the creative eyes of Jihan Zencirli, Turkish American visual and performance artist, creating under the name Geronimo.
The artist has been invited to create signature installations in the NYCB Lincoln Center home for their sixth annual Art Series.
Jihan Zencirli will install more than 200,000 compostable, biodegradable balloons that will range in size from ten inches to ten feet, and will be displayed inside and outside of New York City Ballet's home at Lincoln Center, the David H. Koch Theater.
The balloons symbolize something that is not meant to last forever, that provides enjoyment and then vanishes, like a ballet performance.
This is said to be the artist’s largest project to date.
