Actress Taja V. Simpson Stars in Mob TV Pilot Alongside Icons of Mob Thrillers

Fans are in for a real treat as Black Entertainment Television (BET) star African American Actress Taja V. Simpson stars in a Mob TV Pilot alongside iconic veterans from the top mob films such as "Goodfellas" and "Casino.

"Scarlett” is a TV pilot mob drama that diverges from stereotypical mob stories beginning with Taja V. Simpson, an African American actress, as the lead character in an Sicilian Mob story. She is joined by a powerful cast including Tom Sizemore, Bob Gunton, Jay Tavare, LisaRaye McCoy, Patrick Warburton, Mike Starr, Ed Asner, Al Sapienza, Danny Fehsenfeld, Lorenzo Antonucci, Sean Riggs, Simon Haycock, Joe Cortese, and Gil Darnell.

The plot summary tells a story of Angelina Ellington, a black investigative reporter who despises the mob. She stumbles upon a dead body that leads her through a labyrinth of tunnels that ultimately end face to face with one of the largest Sicilian families in the East Coast. Scarlett is not your typical mob tale. While classics like Goodfellas & Casino are timeless, there’s more to the story than getting “whacked.” Family, loyalty, and honor prevail in this refreshing, diverse new perspective of the complex underworld that is the Sicilian mafia. Scarlett TV pilot is an original story created by Suzanne Sweeney, Massimiliano Trevis ,and Andrea Miraglia, inspired by Suzanne’s book (Scarlett and the Mobster), Massimiliano’s real life experiences growing up around the Mafia in Sicily and produced by Andrea. This first time independent team of Executive Producers miraculously put together a project everyone believed to be a great story that deserved a chance to be told. The pilot started filming this month in Los Angeles.
