Miami Swim Week 2022 Brought the Heat to South Beach While Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion

Miami Swim Week 2022 brought the heat to South Beach! This year's shows celebrated diversity and inclusivity of brands and models as well as sustainable and eye-catching designs from over 70 swimwear designers from all over the world. The models included men and women of all sizes, tattooed, pregnant and disabled. Held on July 14th-21th, this season's collections included swimsuits ranging from army and carnival inspired to electrical tape, feathers, cover-up’s, bikini’s, ready-to-wear. PARAISO Miami Beach Swim Week 2022 hosted designers and top industry brands at their tent on the beach. Collections included B Fyne, Luli Fama, Riot Swim, Brach Bunny, Acacia, Just Bee Queen, One One, and Abyss By Abby featuring a performance by Hip-Hop Artist, over 10 Colombian brands including Destination Colombia and more.

Many celebrities, top models, fashion editors and influencers hit the runway and attended the shows. Attendees included singer Jessie James Decker, Selling Sunset star Mary Fitzgerald, Siesta Key star Juliette Porter, Singer Jason Derulo, Brazilian model Julia Pereira and more. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Show made its return to Miami Swim Week, it was held at the W South Beach and included a "CAMP WSB" themed after party with complementary food from the Shake Shack as well as desserts and drinks. Sports Illustrated models such Kate Bock, Jasmine Sanders and winners of the Sports Illustrated Rookies contest hit the runway built over a swimming pool. Model Nicole Williams debuted her pregnancy on the runway with her husband, former NFL star Larry English.

PARAISO Miami Beach new additions included an art installation that featured iconic photos by Photographer Frederic Pinet, two bars inside serving cocktails and an outside bar serving non-alcoholic refreshing drinks to stay cool in the heat. Also, the ESPACIO VOGUE pop-up shop featuring 15 Latin American brands where guests could purchase swimwear and accessories. Guests could also go to the salon/spa pop-up by the leading sponsor where they could receive Hydra-Facials, other treatments and products.

Pretty Little Thing also debuted their new collection at 1111 Lincoln Rd. The show was held in beautiful decorated parking garage filled with Pretty Little Things decor, palm trees, a bar and an amazing few overlooking South Beach. The garage was the same location and floor where the "No Guidance" video by Chris Brown and Drake was filled. Models included influencer Jayda Cheaves (Jayda Wayda), celebrity hairstylist/model Tokyo Stylez, many well known models and influencers. Attendees included actor & former E!/106 & Park co-host Terrence J, model Draya Michele and influencer Jena Frumes. The packed after party held at Gala featured special guest performer singer Neyo who was accompanied by his wife Crystal Smith.

A highlight of Miami Swim Week was the Matte Collection held at the Versace Mansion. Angela Simmons, brand ambassador and entrepreneur turned heads and had everyone talking when she walked the runway wearing a bright green string bikini paired with a matching open, button-down shirt. Simmons went viral when she posted un-retouched photos on Instagram showing her natural body with cellulite. She wanted to encourage woman to love and embrace their natural bodies. Other models included influencer Ari Fletcher and City Girls rapper JT. A few other highlights included the Maxim 100 and DJ Khalid after parties and the Art Heart Fashion Swim Shows held at the Faena Forum. The legendary Tyson Beckford walked the runway for the Mister Triple X Collection and gave the audience a peak at his bottom.

Lila Nikole showcased her anticipated collection featuring her stunning Carnival designs, the Black Tape Project wow'd the audience with its electric tape collection, Nike Swim debuted their new collection and Naval Swim commanded the attention of the audience with its army inspired collection dedicated to veterans featuring prop weapons, wheelchairs and a pregnant mom-to-be. Many other swimwear brands and sellers showed their latest collections off the runway at the Hammock Show and the top entrepreneurs in fashion and tech spoke at the NEXT: IMPACT Fashion Innovation and Technology Speaker Series. Miami Swim Week 2022 was amazing, I can't to see the shows next year.
