Tribeca Festival 2023 Post-Event Recap – Day 7 Festivities
Highlights from film programming at the OKX Theater at BMCC TPAC included a live Storytellers conversation with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Rosie Perez as well as the world premiere of The Walking Dead: Dead City with stars Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, Brian Bockrath, Mahina Napoleon, Karina Ortiz, Jonathan Higginbotham, Michael Anthony, Okea Eme-Akwari, Cassady McClincy, Pallavi Sastry, Trey Santiago-Hudson and Charlie Solis.
Over at the SVA Theatre, director/subject Bethann Hardison, co-director Frederic Tcheng, and producer Lisa Cortes were joined by Dapper Dan, Tyson Beckford, Iman, Tracee Ellis Ross, Fran Leibowitz, Zac Posen for the New York Premiere of Invisible Beauty. Later in the evening, Michael Cera, Sophia Lillis, Hannah Gross, and director Dustin Guy Defa walked the red carpet for the North American premiere of The Adults.
The Apollo Theatre played host to the US premiere of Lionsgate’s comedy-horror film The Blackening with stars Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Dewayne Perkins, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Jay Pharoah, and Yvonne Orji, director Tim Story, and special guests including Keke Palmer, Scottie Beam, Amber Ruffin, Myles Frost, and Dudette with a Sign in attendance.
Eugene Hütz, Pamela Racine, Sergey Ryabtsev, Pedro Erazo, Elizabeth Sun, Iggy Pop, directors Nate Pommer and Eric Weinrib, and special guests included rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ guitarist Nick Zinner attended the red carpet for their new doc Scream of My Blood: A Gogol Bordello Story at the Indeed Theater at Spring Studios.
The Village East by Angelika hosted the world premiere of Comedy of Wars: Laughter in Ukraine with director Christopher Walters and Hanna Kochehura as well as Kim’s Video with Yongman Kim and director David Redmon.

The Tribeca Festival, presented by OKX, brings artists and diverse audiences together to celebrate storytelling in all its forms, including film, TV, music, audio storytelling, games, and XR. The Festival was founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff in 2001 to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of lower Manhattan following the attacks on the World Trade Center. The annual Tribeca Festival will celebrate its 22nd year from June 7–18, 2023 in New York City.
In 2019, James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems bought a majority stake in Tribeca Enterprises, bringing together Rosenthal, De Niro, and Murdoch to grow the enterprise.
