Steps leading towards revelation. A poetic celebration of the elusive and freedom. An ascent to overlook the past and advance towards the promise of renewal. From Tuesday May 17 to Saturday May 28, the Cannes Film Festival celebrates its 75th edition.

Cannes Film Festival 2022 Opens

Like the unforgettable Truman embodied by Jim Carrey who brushes his horizon with his fingertips, the Cannes Film Festival takes note of the extremity of a world to apprehend it anew. Climate crisis, humanitarian disasters, armed conflicts: there are many reasons for concern. As in 1939 and then in 1946, Cannes reaffirms its conviction that art and cinema are places of reflection and contribute to the reinvention of the world. And do not forget anything about its founding commitment described in the first article of its regulations: "The International Film Festival aims, in a spirit of friendship and universal cooperation, to reveal and highlight works by quality in order to serve the evolution of cinematographic art".

A modern evocation of the myth of Plato's cave, The Truman Show by the duo Peter Weir-Andrew Niccol and directed by Peter Weir (1998) and this decisive scene in particular invite the spectator to touch the border between reality and its representation as much as to question the powers of fiction, between manipulation and catharsis. And if Truman, by this climb, escapes the lie, the Festival, by the ascent of its Red Steps, offers to enter a cinema to discover the truth of the artists.

Cultured Focus Magazine will be at the center of all the action with our journalists providing the best films, press conferences, and red carpet looks. Stay tuned for reports and red carpet arivals.
