The GSF Awards were first established in 2015 to recognize short films that were under 15 minutes in length. The nominations are judged by a panel of experts and the winning films may be screened in New York City or other locations. In addition to screenings, winning films or their trailers are also screened in Cannes. The yearly event takes place in Cannes, France and includes a red-carpet event.
